ComFlor
80 is manufactured from high grade 440
steel and Corus Panels and Profiles are the only
deck manufacturer in the UK to produce composite
profiles in a grade of this quality. This high
grade of steel together with the large corner
curvature detail, provides an efficient profile
which can reach impressive spans. The deck has
unpropped spans of 4.5 metres and in the continuous
condition, spans of 5 metres can be achieved.
In turn, this reduces the number of structural
steel components that are required, and so reduces
overall costs of floor construction.
The profile has been designed to enable the welded
shear stud connectors to be placed at the centre
part of the trough only. This is the optimum position
for the connector, which will ensure the correct
concrete cover to the stud resulting in it reaching
its full design capacity. The central location
also eliminates the need for site checking to
ensure that the stud positioning has been properly
carried out.
The versatile profile can be produced with a painted
surface to the underside. This will allow the
deck to be used compositely, which makes it ideal
for use in a situation where a finished/exposed
underside is required. For example, in car park
construction.
The CF80 deck profile, as with the other shallow
profiles, acts compositely with the concrete slab
via the embossments on the deck profile. The steel
beam acts compositely with the concrete via the
shear stud connector. The 19 mm diameter shear
stud connector is welded through the deck to the
top flange of the beam. Fabric mesh is placed
on the deck in an elevated position and concrete
is pumped to form the concrete slab.
